Legendary Al Green career advocate, James Bullard forms MiJa Records to sign Mississippi Songwriter of the Year, Derek Norsworthy.
Mississippi, a state synonymous for producing maverick’s such as B.B. King, Jimmy Rodgers, Conway Twitty, Faith Hill, Jimmy Buffet and the “King of Rock-N-Roll”, Elvis Presley is home to new age artist and Mississippi Songwriter of the Year Derek Norsworthy. Norsworthy, a gulf coast native, caught the attention of the legendary James Bullard in 2018 and led to Bullard forming MiJA Records to sign the Mississippi native to a recording contract. Norsworthy is credited in writing the official fight song for a 3-time National Champion football team featured on the Netflix Original series “Last Chance U” and holds a number of film scores. He’s earned notable features on CMT, American Songwriter Magazine, solidified a USO Ambassador Representative position and endorsements with Westone Audio, Kyser Products, McPherson and Framus Guitars. Derek the founder of Rep Your Roots Clothing, a philanthropic group that focuses on providing assistance to charity organizations and promoting music education to school, is set to release a sequence of studio singles in 2020, as well as a 10 song live album recorded live in Jackson, Ms.
